HALL OF SHAME #1
I came across this motor yacht on a mooring at Kawau Is. during our cruise.I hardly recognised her!
The mods are subtle but to my eye have completely ruined a classic Motor Yacht.

BRIANS ANCHORAGE-TRYPHENA-GBI
Out at Gt. Barrier Is. we visited Brian down at Tryphena. He is a collector of nautical items, dinghies (8) Lister motors, tools ( look at the lovely pedstal hand drill!)There are 4 seperate workshops/ stores.
Great Barrier Island is 43nm se of Whangarei and 50nm ne of Auckland and has about 800 residents.
The view from his galley looks over the anchorage-nice cup of tea to end a 4hr visit...

RETURN TO HOME PORT
Back in Whangarei- three months cruise done-747 NM and here is the first thousand miles done since refit. The only problem was a loose wire to rev counter, easily fixed.
The last passage was interesting. Was from Gt. Barrier Is. to whangarei -43nm.7 hours, but what was more interesting was the fuel consumption - 28.8 lt !
This was due to carrying the jib and mainsail in 20kts southerly, a beam reach in knobbly seas. 6.3kts but revs reduced to 1100, then 1250. Usually run at 1500.Our usual consumtion for this passage is 39 to 40 litres.
